Three Mexican fishermen lost at sea and a former Hollywood executive now lost in a sea of depression, drugs and addiction couldn't be more different, but they have one thing in common- the Bible. Thir two journeys are intertwined in a story of what it really means to trust God.
I enjoyed reading The Fourth Fisherman. It was an inspiration to me to keep trusting God even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Jenny Jordan is torn between her loyalty to the South and the Yankee soldier she has fallen in love with. Her father orders her to end the relationship and tells Buck Brownwell, the man she is in love with, to stay away from Jenny, but Buck will not give up, and Jenny can’t bear to be away from him, even though she has to hide huge secrets about herself and her father, who is a Confederate spy. Pressured by her father to aid the South by carrying information across enemy lines, Jenny finally agrees. But the penalty for being caught as a spy is death, and when Jenny is caught in Yankee territory, Buck himself is ordered to oversee her execution. Will he find a way to rescue his beloved enemy?
I enjoyed this book, and hope to read others in this series. I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

The Scroll: A book review
David Chambers is trying to forget the faith he once had when his old mentor convinces him to help in a dig under ancient Jerusalem. The goal? To recover a list of artifacts listed on the Copper Scroll- artifacts from a Jewish temple that had been hidden centuries before. The drama continues to unfold when someone tries to stop the archaeological team from carrying out their project. A bomb, a student found killed, and the safety of another member of the team jeopardized, are only a few of the things that come between the job and its completion. Through the story and as a result of the dig, David finds his faith again, and the nation is forever changed.
I must say I really enjoyed this book. The plot was really intriguing and the story was well-written. I wouldn’t hesitate to read more books like this.

Eye of the Sword by Karyn Henley: A book review
In the second book of the Angelaeon Circle series, the struggle to find the three harps continues. Trevin, now a comain in the service of King Laetham, is on an important mission for the king. He is also on a personal mission to find the rest of Melaia’s harps. When he is falsely accused of murder and put to trial, the eye of the sword reflects an astonishing view of Trevin’s character. He is set free and returns to searching for the harps- his chance of proving to Melaia’s father that he is worthy of a princess’s love. But time is running out. Melaia is betrothed to Varic, a shady Dregmoorian prince. Faced with startling facts of his heritage, the only way for Trevin to complete what he has started is to face nightmares from his past.
The point that this book brought home to me was that the truth is what sets you free. I enjoyed “Eye of the Sword” even more than “Breath of Angel”, and I’m hoping there are more in the Angelaeon Circle series!
I revieved "Eye of the Sword" free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishers in exchange for my honest review. Thanks for reading!

Breath of Angel by Karyn Henley
The night Melaia, a sixteen-year-old priestess, witnesses a murder in the temple courtyard, she finds out that the stories of angels and shape-shifters aren’t myths. They’re real. A message found in the murdered man’s hand is only the beginning: “Now is payment due in full”.
Sent to serve a king in a distant land, Melaia thought she could trust Trevin, the young kingsman guarding her, only to discover later that his motive the entire time was to betray her later. Then she discovers a shocking secret about the events surrounding her birth, and it becomes her task to find the three kyparis-wood harps and restore the stairway to heaven, allowing angels stranded in the earthly realm to return. Working against those trying to stop the stairway from being restored, Melaia must fulfill the ancient debt- breath of angel, blood of man- which only she is able to do.
From the description, I wasn’t really sure I would like this book, and it took me the first couple of chapters to really get into it, but then I just couldn’t put it down! I am really glad I chose this book to review, because I very, very much enjoyed it. This is my first Karyn Henley book, and I’m looking forward to reading others by her! I would definitely recommend this book.
I received this book free from the publisher in return for an honest review. My own truthful opinion is expressed here! :-)

First week of February: Skiing!
So it's the 1st week of FEBRUARY already! Winter is, like, half over now! ;-P And we've finally got enough snow to go SKIING! Yay!
On Sunday, our friend, Ashley, and her roommate, Bev, came over after church and lunch, and we had a great time skiing! We went on a several-mile, 1.5 to 2 hour long ski way back in the woods. Some of us got real close with the snow :-)
This afternoon I went on a short ski. I would've liked to be out there longer, but I needed to get back and finish up getting dinner ready on time. Mackenzie and Mom are away from this afternoon until Wednesday afternoon so Dad and me are doing the cooking for 2 days (but we can both turn out edible stuff!).
I've been working on knitting a navy-and-flecked teal-striped purse, and I'm almost done with the main part of it (still got the flap to knit then). And that's a lot of what I've been up to lately.
Have a great day!

An invitation to dinner... with Jesus of Nazareth
A review for the book "Dinner with a Perfect Stranger" by David Gregory
Nick Cominsky thinks his buddies are pulling a fast one on him when the invitation arrives in the mail: A dinner with Jesus of Nazareth? Yeah, right. But curiosity gets the better of him and he decides to find out exactly what kind of joke his friends have come up with. What Nick wasn’t counting on was that this dinner was going to change his life.
Walking into the restaurant, Nick is surprised to meet, not his colleagues, but “Jesus”, who claims that Nick’s buddies had nothing to do with the invitation. And Nick is surprised at how much this man knows about his personal life. Nick tries to test this Jesus, doubting that this man is actually who he says he is, but for everything Nick brings up, Jesus has an answer. And by the end of the dinner, Nick realizes that Jesus is really who he says he is.
From the minute I turned the first page, I was pulled into the story. I didn’t want to stop reading. David Gregory writes in a way that makes it really real. This book is one you won’t want to miss.
I received this book free from the publisher for this review. The opinions expressed here are my own. J
