Book Review: GET LOST by Dannah Gresh

Disappointingly, it has been over a month and I still haven't received this book. I've contacted WaterBrook Multnomah, and if I'm able to receive a replacement copy, I will read it, write a review, and edit this :-)

OK... Thanks to WaterBrook Multnomah for sending me a replacement copy.. Life has been hectic for the past 6 months, between school, my trip to Japan this summer and now school again so it has taken me a long time to sit down and write a review. Apologies!!! Here's the overdue review:

I really love Dannah Gresh's style of writing- the "big sister" tone that her books take and the relevant things she talks about in them. Get Lost is all about how to be more focused on God than guys (because all too often, the opposite tends to be what we do!). Dannah shares helpful information and tips on why and how whe should do this and encourages girls to go on a 10-day (or 10-week) "Love Feast" - a period of time when you "fast" from guys and focus completely on God.

This book was insightful and contained some good information and ideas. It's a good book for teen girls to read.

Thank you to WaterBrook Multnomah for sending me a free copy of Get Lost in exchange for an honest review. Sorry about the delay in getting it written!

And also thank you to the author, Dannah Gresh, who posted a comment on my blog offering to send me a replacement copy herself! I really appreciated your kind offer and would've taken you up on it! Thank you! :-)

Review: YOUR BEAUTIFUL PURPOSE by Susie Larson

This was not a good book. I guess the point of the book was to encourage women to embrace what God has in store for them but honestly, I felt like there wasn't much real substance to the book. The author seemed to spend more time just rambling on than getting to the real point of what she wanted to say. Also, when she added examples from her own story, it didn't flow with the rest of the chapter, making the book seem discombobulated. And I felt like it almost seemed that she thought she'd figured out how to almost be perfect, so you should do what she said or did to be like her. I realize this wasn't how she meant to sound, but it came across to me that way. And there was too much of "this is what needs to happen" and not much of "here is what practical life application would look like".
Honestly, I don't think I would recommend this book. I found it hard to read, boring, and lacking substance.
I received this book free from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.

Review: OUTRAGEOUS COURAGE by Kris Vallotton with Jason Vallotton

This book was written to share true and inspiring events from Tracy Evans' missionary life. Readers who enjoy the biographies and stories of missionaries or readers who like books with plenty of action will enjoy Outrageous Courage.
I enjoyed reading Tracy's story and seeing how God worked in her life, as well as how He protected her and orchestrated events in her life. Your heart will be touched by the stories of the people Tracy worked with and cared for.

Thank you to Baker Publishing Group and Chosen Books for providing me with a free copy of Outrageous Courage in exchnage for my honest review.

Excellent Book!

Book Title: Though Mountains Fall by Dale Cramer

This was a very well-written book. While many Amish books tend to be cliché and unrealistic, this one was very interesting. The plot was intriguing and captured my interest from the first page; I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and I couldn’t put it down! I haven’t read the first two books in the series, but after reading this one, I definitely plan to. This was the best Amish book I have read in a very long time! I definitely recommend it.

Thank you to Bethany House Publishers for sending me a free copy of Though Mountains Fall in exchange for my honest review of it.
