Review: ADORING ADDIE

This was the best Amish book I've read in a long time! It was a really well-written story, not to mention an incredibly sweet romance between Jonathan and Addie! Many Amish romances are cliche, corny, cheesy, predictable... but not the case with this one! I loved this book - absolutely loved it! - and can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the series. It was an excellent book. Anyone who enjoys Amish romances will love it, but this book was more than just a romance so even if you aren't into Amish romances but do like sweet stories, you should read this one!

Review: FINDING GOD IN THE DARK

Finding God in the Dark is about finding faith to work through disappointments and struggles to believe. Using stories from their own lives, Kluck and Martin (the authors) give examples of how faith can get you through difficult circumstances.

I was expecting this to be more of an instruction/devotional-type book and I felt like in some ways their stories distraced from the "how to find faith" part of the book. The message of the book was kind of like "This is my story and how faith played a part in it, and here's a few faith-finding tips for you" book. Not that this was a bad book, it was just not what I expected and I didn't really feel like I could relate a whole lot to what they were talking about.

Review: FIRED UP

I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't as good as Book One. The romance part wasn't written that well and almost ruined the book. And the part about Jonas's sister and Vince was really corny. But I got this book because I wanted to find out what happened to Glynna, and the parts about her cooking attempts at the diner were hilarioius! I think that I would recommend this book if you have read Book One of the series and want to follow Glynna's story, but if you're looking for a good romance this may not be the book for you.

Review: FOREVER FRIDAY

I enjoyed this book and I felt like it was really well-written. I think that this story makes a point - lifelong commitment is what true love really is. This is one of those books with a story that is going to stay with me for a long time.

Book Review (from 08/21): A CAST OF STONES

Wow, what a good book! A Cast of Stones is the best fiction book I've read in awhile, and is one that I can see myself reading over and over. I spent the greater part of yesterday afternoon and evening (and past bedtime) glued to its pages. This book was written with depth and intrigue. Patrick W. Carr, the author, definitely has a talent for writing really good books! This is the type of book where you feel as if you are living the story right alongside the characters, and the story sticks with you long after you have finished reading. I would highly recommend this book. Kudos to the author on a job well done! I can't wait to read the sequel.

Book Review #2 for today! :-)

This time I'm writing a review for "Stealing the Preacher" by Karen Wittemeyer. This wasn't a better-than-average romance, and it had a very predictable storyline, but I enjoyed it nonetheless even though I was expecting less of a romance and more of just an inspirational Christian historical fiction (and I was disappointed to find that it was romance-y). It wasn't boring, and the twist of a traditional Western romance was unique and interesting. I liked the Scriptural themes woven throughout the plot. While it had  alot of cliche parts, this book also had some good life lessons that were shown through the characters' experiences- things like the truth setting you free, God's care in our lives, standing up for what is right, etc. I think that readers who like Western romances would enjoy this book.

Book Review: SWEET SANCTUARY

This is a story that will touch your heart. I really enjoyed it. I was hooked as soon as I started reading and couldn't put it down! The characters were very real-to-life and it was easy to identify with Lydia and Micah throughout the book and through their various circumstances and callings. The plot really captured my interest and I really liked how it turned out in the end. I would have to say that this was a very worthwhile read and one that I would certainly recommend. I would rate it 4 to 4.5 stars.
